2 Lord Vors Medvyed
Lord Vors oversaw young Melchior’s education personally, frequently schooling the lad himself, especially in the arcane arts.
Not all looked on this paternal behavior with a friendly eye—especially the heir, Iacobus Medvyed. Iacobus, with no arcane talent (little talent in general, except for a proclivity to debauchery), became intently jealous of the attentions of his father on the ‘orphaned whelp’. His steady dislike transformed into a rumor campaign, culminating in accusations of bastardhood and sexual misconduct(with said bastard). The embarrassment was finally too much for old Lord Vors, who shamefacedly explained the ruination of his burgeoning career to Melchior. As a last boon, Lord Vors procured(thru a proctor, Kale Golovach) for Melchior a charter to explore and possibly claim a part of the Stolen Lands for Brevoy, essentially founding a new noble house. Lord Vors does not intend to wash his hands entirely of his protégé’s fate: he gives the young man instructions to contact Kale Golovach in times of dire need and sends a manservant with him (Kurik of Medvyed).
